FR. AUGUSTINE HUE THANH NGUYEN - RIP
This past May 12, 2009 a good friend of St. Stephen and frequent visitor who also often said Masses for Fr. Pérez whenever he had to be away was called by God, Lord of Life, to Himself. Ordained in Vietnam in 1964, Father opened at least fifteen parishes and many clinics for the poor there. He suffered persecution and imprisonment under the perfidious communists and eventually came to America. He founded the local Vietnamese Parish, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs out of the abandoned St. Thomas More School and built a beautiful church in honor of the Holy Martyrs of Vietnam. He had to rebuild the church when it caught fire on Chritsmas Eve. Father loved the Church, the Holy Father, the Priesthood and his people, who loved him in turn. He was also very fond of animals, especialy birds and fish, which he tended with great care, as well as flowers and gardening. He will be missed by many. Requiescat in pace! Fr. Augustine, pray for us!
